Bad Planning BP Costume

Looking to cause a stir this Halloween? Try this Bad Planning Costume on for size!

Bad Planning BP Costume Check out this Bad Planning Costume! This green, one piece jumpsuit is covered with fake tar and oil stains, reminiscent of the 2010 oil spill. Also, on the breast is a BP style emblem with the works Bad Planning underneath, as a spoof of the BP’s actual logo. Jumpsuit is available in regular and plus sizes, if you want to make a somewhat politically incorrect, but funny statement!
Pair with black work boots or sneakers and the accessories below to really stand out. Don’t have work boots or sneakers? Check out your local second hand store, and see what they have for cheap.

Accessories:

It’s one thing to wear the Bad Planning BP costume, and a totally different thing to actually look like you were working the oil spill. You could use crayons, or face paint, but neither one’s going to give a good splattering like you’re looking for for oil drops, splats, and smears. So, try some black liquid latex*! It dries to a shiny texture, and since it has a consistency like paint (or oil) you can paint it, drip it, and splatter it on! And, you can even get it in black! How perfect is that?

You need a prop of some kind to carry, otherwise you’re just a guy in jumpsuit. The most obvious solution is the one in the picture above: an oil coated wrench. If you happen to have a wrench of any size, then you’re in luck. Granted, if you can get your hands on a really big one, even better, but we’ll pretend size doesn’t matter for a minute. Wrench

Regardless of the sort of wrench you use, a clean shiny wrench won’t fit with the costume. It needs oil! Instead of using real oil, use acrylic paint (tough to get off) or some liquid latex* like the stuff mentioned above! Splat it all over your wrench and let it dry, and now you have an oily wrench to go with your costume. Cleanup should be easy, peel the latex off, and then wash the tool with a little soap and water and towel dry.

Fish If you don’t want to pack around a heavy wrench all night, consider buying a fake fish. They come in all styles and colours, and you can probably find them at most variety stores, either in the toys area, or near the outdoor supplies. Remember those “Bigmouth Bill Bass” annoying singing fish from about 7 years ago? If you have one of those, pry it off the fake plaque, and use it.

Like the wrench, a clean fish is no fun. Since this isn’t tool that you’ll be using again, acryulic paint or model paint would work just fine for splattering the fish. However, if you’re looking to get your hands and face messy, you might as well use liquid latex*as well.

*Please keep in mind that liquid latex is just that, and if you have an allergy to latex, or latex products, you should not apply the product to your body, or to anything you will come in contact with. We assume no responsibility if you experience any problems or side affects from using liquid latex. The product is presented as a suggestion only.
